All about ME

Hi everyone, im here to introduce myself for those who are strange to me. I am Gan Boon Kent, 22 years old. Im currently taking Bachelor of Business Administration- Entrepreneurship in UTAR, Kampar. I choose this course is because i wish to have my own business in the future.

Inaccessible, naughty, and playful are the first impression that i given to others. But for those who know me very well will know actually im very friendly, optimistic guy but not talkative. I am always quietly infront of those im not very close with. This is the first year i step into degree course, feel so excited. I hope to gain more knowledge and know more friends in this 3 years time. Before this, im working in Singapore as a machine operator. During the year, working life over there was so meaningful and memorable, i had learn many new things from the experience.

Playing snooker is the main activity of my daily life in Kampar during free time but it is a kind of activity that is wasting money. Sometimes, i will also go cyber cafe to play online games and Dota with friends because Dota is a very famous game among teenagers. Swimming, singing, watching movie and listening to music are my hobbies too. I used to be playing basketball but i've stopped it few years ago.

Top 5 website that i mostly use:
1. Facebook - to know more recent information of friends
2. Youtube - watching video clips
3. Hotmail - to check my mail
4. Wble - download notes or any other study materials
5. Sogou - download latest music and song

Top 5 internet activities:
1. Facebook
2. Msn
3. Hotmail
4. Youtube
5. Xun xian online game

Network and Telecommunication

Network and Telecommunication

Wired Network

Wired networks provide users with plenty of security and the ability to move lots of data very quickly. Wired networks are typically faster than wireless networks, and they can be very affordable. However, the cost of Ethernet cable can add up -- the more computers on your network and the farther apart they are, the more expensive your network will be. In addition, unless you're building a new house and installing Ethernet cable in the walls, you'll be able to see the cables running from place to place around your home, and wires can greatly limit your mobility. A laptop owner, for example, won't be able to move around easily if his computer is tethered to the wall.

There are threes structure of wired network:

Bus network,Ring network,Star network

There are also three type of wire used by wire network:

Fiber-optic cable,Twisted pair cable,Coaxial cable

The Evolution in Telecommunication:from Wire to Wireless

Wireless Network
Wireless telecommunications networks are generally implemented with some type of remote information transmission system that uses electromagnetic wave, such as radio wave, for the carrier and this implementation usually takes place at the physical level or "layer" of the network.

The wireless communication revolution is bringing fundamental changes to data networking, telecommunication, and is making integrated networks a reality. By freeing the user from the cord, personal communications networks, wireless LAN's, mobile radio networks and cellular systems, harbor the promise of fully distributed mobile computing and communications, any time, anywhere.

Below is type of wireless network:

Bluetooth

-short-range wireless technology

-connect to PCs to devices, such as a printer

-fairly low cost to implement

LANS(Wi-Fi)

-uses wireless radiowave technology to digital cellular to connect PCs within an office/a building.

-can be high-frequency,similar /low frequency(spectrum)

WiMAX(802.16e)

-newest of the network types
-similar to Wi-Fi,but operate over longer distances and at higher speeds
-can use both licensed and non-licensed frequencies

Communicate Satellites
-space station that receives microwave signal from earth-based station, amplifies signals, and broadcasts signals back to any number of earth-based stations
-e.g: GPS

Cellular and PCS Telephone and Pager Systems
-Geographic areas are divided into cells
-each cell has a low-power transmitter/radio relay antenna
-computer and other communications processors coordinate and control the transmissions to and from mobile users

The Evolution of Data Management Technology:from Traditional File to Data Warehouse

Traditional File

Traditional file uses transaction processing,a transaction is the record of an event,it require a master file(permanent information)and many transaction file(contains information relevant to the most recent transactions.traditional used in business data processing, each business application designed to use one/more specialized data files containing only specific type of data records.e.g:below diagram

traditional file processing-a company y checking account processing account processing application was designed to access and update a data file containing only specific types of data record.

------------------------------processing traditional file image ------------------------

-----------------------------------batch processing system---------------------------
Limitation of Traditional File Processing
-Data redundancy-duplicated data(i.e. data integrity and confusion)
-Separated and Isolated Data
-Application program dependency
-Incompatible files
-Difficult to represent users' perspectives of data
-Lack of data sharing and availability

Advantage of Traditional File Processing
-no need external storage
-no need high technical person to handle the database
-processing speed is high compare to DBMS(database management system)

Data Warehouse
A data warehouse is a central repository for all or significant parts of the data that an enterprise's various business systems collect

Typically, a data warehouse is housed on an enterprise mainframe server. Data from various online transaction processing (OLTP) applications and other sources is selectively extracted and organized on the data warehouse database for use by analytical applications and user queries. Data warehousing emphasizes the capture of data from diverse sources for useful analysis and access, but does not generally start from the point-of-view of the end user or knowledge worker who may need access to specialized, sometimes local databases. The latter idea is known as the data mart.
Stored static that has been extracted form other database in an organization, data warehouse may divided into data marts.

Advantage of data warehouse

-users will be able to access a large amount of information.

-the information can be used to solve a large number of problem.

-its can increase the profit of a company

Disadvantage of data warehouse

-before data can be stored,it must be cleaned, loaded,or extracted.

-this process take a long period of time.

-also be issues with compatibility.
