Network and Telecommunication

Network and Telecommunication

Wired Network

Wired networks provide users with plenty of security and the ability to move lots of data very quickly. Wired networks are typically faster than wireless networks, and they can be very affordable. However, the cost of Ethernet cable can add up -- the more computers on your network and the farther apart they are, the more expensive your network will be. In addition, unless you're building a new house and installing Ethernet cable in the walls, you'll be able to see the cables running from place to place around your home, and wires can greatly limit your mobility. A laptop owner, for example, won't be able to move around easily if his computer is tethered to the wall.

There are threes structure of wired network:

Bus network,Ring network,Star network

There are also three type of wire used by wire network:

Fiber-optic cable,Twisted pair cable,Coaxial cable

The Evolution in Telecommunication:from Wire to Wireless

Wireless Network
Wireless telecommunications networks are generally implemented with some type of remote information transmission system that uses electromagnetic wave, such as radio wave, for the carrier and this implementation usually takes place at the physical level or "layer" of the network.

The wireless communication revolution is bringing fundamental changes to data networking, telecommunication, and is making integrated networks a reality. By freeing the user from the cord, personal communications networks, wireless LAN's, mobile radio networks and cellular systems, harbor the promise of fully distributed mobile computing and communications, any time, anywhere.

Below is type of wireless network:

Bluetooth

-short-range wireless technology

-connect to PCs to devices, such as a printer

-fairly low cost to implement

LANS(Wi-Fi)

-uses wireless radiowave technology to digital cellular to connect PCs within an office/a building.

-can be high-frequency,similar /low frequency(spectrum)

WiMAX(802.16e)

-newest of the network types
-similar to Wi-Fi,but operate over longer distances and at higher speeds
-can use both licensed and non-licensed frequencies

Communicate Satellites
-space station that receives microwave signal from earth-based station, amplifies signals, and broadcasts signals back to any number of earth-based stations
-e.g: GPS

Cellular and PCS Telephone and Pager Systems
-Geographic areas are divided into cells
-each cell has a low-power transmitter/radio relay antenna
-computer and other communications processors coordinate and control the transmissions to and from mobile users
