Hi everyone, im here to introduce myself for those who are strange to me. I am Gan Boon Kent, 22 years old. Im currently taking Bachelor of Business Administration- Entrepreneurship in UTAR, Kampar. I choose this course is because i wish to have my own business in the future.

Inaccessible, naughty, and playful are the first impression that i given to others. But for those who know me very well will know actually im very friendly, optimistic guy but not talkative. I am always quietly infront of those im not very close with. This is the first year i step into degree course, feel so excited. I hope to gain more knowledge and know more friends in this 3 years time. Before this, im working in Singapore as a machine operator. During the year, working life over there was so meaningful and memorable, i had learn many new things from the experience.

Playing snooker is the main activity of my daily life in Kampar during free time but it is a kind of activity that is wasting money. Sometimes, i will also go cyber cafe to play online games and Dota with friends because Dota is a very famous game among teenagers. Swimming, singing, watching movie and listening to music are my hobbies too. I used to be playing basketball but i've stopped it few years ago.

Wired Network

Traditional File

Traditional file uses transaction processing,a transaction is the record of an event,it require a master file(permanent information)and many transaction file(contains information relevant to the most recent transactions.traditional used in business data processing,each business application designed to use one/more specialized data files containing only specific type of data records.e.g:below diagram

Data Warehouse

A data warehouse is a central repository for all or significant parts of the data that an enterprise's various business systems collect

Typically, a data warehouse is housed on an enterprise mainframe server. Data from various online transaction processing (OLTP) applications and other sources is selectively extracted and organized on the data warehouse database for use by analytical applications and user queries. Data warehousing emphasizes the capture of data from diverse sources for useful analysis and access, but does not generally start from the point-of-view of the end user or knowledge worker who may need access to specialized, sometimes local databases. The latter idea is known as the data mart.

Advantage of data warehouse

Comparison Between General Purpose Application Software and Function-Specific Application Software

General Purpose Application Software
application software is a programs that perform common information processing jobs for end users.They are significantly increase productivity of end users,also call as productivity packages .for examples,word processing jobs for end users.

word processing -provide many help features.e.g: spelling checker which can identify and correct spelling error/tbesaurus feature help to find better choice of words/converting document to HTML format,create birthday cards/write letters and so on.e.g: Microsoft word,Microsoft office and so on.

spreadsheet-used to make a table/draw up a graph.virtually every business to analysis,planing and modeling,develop in electronic spreadsheet which is a worksheet of row and column that can be converted to HTML format and stored as a Web Page or web sheet on World Wide Web.Its also used to balance checkbook/manage fantasy football league.g: lotus 1-2-3,Microsoft Excel,Corel QuattroPro and so on.

Function-Specific Application Software
Function-specific-application software is a thousands of these packages support specific applications of end users.for examples,customers relationship management,enterprise resource planning,supply chain management,and web-enabled electronic commerce.

Microcomputer are also known as personal computers and are the ones mostly found in big and small office, they are normally standalone computers known PC, or Desktop Computers.

Microcomputer are small and expensive designed for individual use. Microcomputer can support mathematical computer and graphic display demands(workstation) e.g:CAD,investment and portfolio analysis.It contain two types of memories ROM and RAM.

Microcomputer have more powerful than workstation in network servers,because it support small network/Internet/intranet websites and coordinates telecommunication and resource sharing.

mainframe computer system is a large,fast and powerful computer system,it have a large primary storage capacity that can allow user to storage many documentation,beside mainframe computer system can high transaction processing volumes/complex computational problem.

Hi, everyone. My name is Tan Hu Khim. Nickname call John also can call me as Khim. It will more suitable for me. Hehe...

About Me.

18th January 2010, the day I first stepped into UTAR as an undergraduate.

This is a starting point of my journey to become an entrepreneur.



Tan Yee Wei, a name given by my parents to me 20 years ago. Here am I now doing my best in my studies to repay my parents' hardwork.

Friendly and outgoing is my first impression to others. Sincerity is what I always give to the people around me.

Singing, a talent which God has blessed me with.
Football, a sport which I am obsessed with.
Is socializing a hobby too? :P If yes, do count this in~ :D
Making friends is what I always do. Without friends around me, I'll die because of boredom.

Life in Kampar is really full of challenges. "Soothing" sunlight to my skin is making me tanner. Weather here can change with just a blink of eye from Hot Sun to Thunder Storm.
Tesco is the only supermarket nearest to the residential areas. For a better facilities and services, Ipoh will be the nearest alternative.
Therefore. online is the only way to kill time when there's nothing else better to do.
